Everything you need to know about our random quote generator

Quotes are aggregated from a variety of public and community-maintained datasets that we include in the repository's `data/` folder. When available, each quote includes the provided author and any source metadata. We try to prefer public-domain or openly licensed material, but users should verify copyright for any reuse beyond casual sharing.

You can filter by tag/theme using the generator's Theme selector. Filtering by author or full-text search is not available in the UI yet — it may be added in a future release.

When the quote includes an author (and optionally a source), include that information alongside the quote. For formal or commercial use, verify the attribution against primary sources and confirm licensing before republishing.

Possibly — it depends on the original source and its license. Some quotes are public domain or permissively licensed; others may still be protected. If you plan commercial use, check the original source and, when in doubt, seek permission or legal advice.

The generator includes an "allow duplicates" option. If disabled, the generator will avoid repeating the same quote in a single batch. If enabled, the same quote can appear multiple times.

Please open an issue in the repository with the quote text, why it's problematic, and any suggested correction or source. We review reports and remove or correct entries as needed.

Contributions are welcome. Open a pull request or issue with the quote text and attribution metadata. Include any licensing information you have so we can assess suitability for inclusion.

The repository contains JSON files under `data/` that are the source for the generator. There's no public API endpoint from this app right now — if you need programmatic access, you can use those files or propose an API feature via an issue.
